Conflict of Interest Policy

HomeFront Productions is committed to maintaining the trust of our audience, partners and funders through ethical conduct and transparent disclosure of potential conflicts of interest.

For staff and contributors: HomeFront staff, contributing journalists and freelancers are expected to disclose to HomeFront's leadership any personal, financial or professional relationships that could create — or appear to create — a conflict of interest with their reporting or work for HomeFront. This includes relationships with sources, subjects of coverage, funders or partner organizations. Individuals who have a conflict of interest with a particular story or topic will not be assigned to cover it.

For advisory board members: HomeFront advisory board members are expected to disclose any financial, professional or personal interests that may conflict with the interests of HomeFront Productions. Advisory board members with a conflict of interest in a matter under discussion will recuse themselves from related decisions.

For funders and partners: As stated in our Editorial Independence Policy, acceptance of financial support does not constitute endorsement of donors. Funders have no influence over editorial decisions. HomeFront will not accept donations from sources that, in the judgment of our leadership, present a conflict of interest with our work.

Disclosure in our journalism: When HomeFront's reporting covers an organization or issue with which a funder, board member or staff person has a connection, we will disclose that relationship in the relevant story or content.
